I am sorry, but you may not. HCU is a private campus.

Moody Library serves the research, teaching, and scholarly activities of Houston Christian University students, faculty, and staff.

  • Family members of HCU students, faculty, or staff may be admitted to the library only when accompanied by an HCU student, faculty, or staff ID holder.
  • Other categories of scholarly researchers or visiting researchers may be admitted on a case-by-case basis as approved by the Library Director or the Librarian in charge. Please call the library in advance at 281-649-3304 and we will work out the details with you.
  • Holders of current TexShare cards from Texas academic or public libraries are permitted. You must have a current (valid) TexShare card to show if asked by a university employee. TexShare patrons may checkout up to four items. If you do not have a TexShare, you need to ask your local public library branch or your university library about getting one. You can bring your laptop to connect to the public WiFi to search the catalog.
  • Children under 16 are allowed in the Library only if accompanied by an HCU student, faculty, or staff member at all times. TexShare patrons are not allowed to bring children into the library.
  • The Library reserves the right to refuse to grant access or borrowing privileges to any person who fails to observe university or Library policies and regulations.

  1. Are those not affiliated with HCU, but users of Texshare cards, allowed access? The first line implies not, but a later bullet says access is permitted with Texshare.

  2. Yes, that is correct. TexShare card holders are able to come to checkout books.
