Hi! Thanks for the question! Students are allowed to bring mini-fridges and microwaves. If you are a first-time Freshman, and staying in the WRC or MRC, then you will have a regular-sized fridge in your suite. I have asked for a list of other appliances (allow and disallowed).

Students are allowed to bring mini-fridges and microwaves. If you are a first-time Freshman, and staying in the WRC or MRC, then you will have a regular-sized fridge in your suite. I have asked for a list of other appliances (allow and disallowed). If I hear any more, I will update this ticket. Also, the following are not allowed.

  • No open flames (candles, Sterno-type canned fuel, liquid fuel, etc.)
  • No incense
  • No hot plates
  • No halogen lamps; only UL-approved electrical lights or extension cords may be used.
  • Lights are not to be placed around doors or windows with the power line passing through the doorway or window frame to an outlet
  • No multiple-outlet, "octopus" of plugs in your room or apartment. Likewise, “chaining” multiple extension cords together is also prohibited.
  • All decorations used on the inside of a University building must be flameproof or flame retardant. Only artificial trees are permitted in students' rooms, and decorations may not obstruct an exit.

ResLife also often gets questions about air fryers, toasters, and waffle makers. At this moment we have not specified whether these items are or are not allowed. For the time being these items can be brought on campus, unless something changes, and we will update the student handbook.
