Good question. We would prefer that there were no embargoes but that is a decision made by publishers. You may see the word embargo or "full text delay." The publishers tell the database vendors what information they will give for access. It could be abstract only or full-text. Most of databases are 75% or better full-text. If it's full-text, the publisher may want to give subscribers first access and then after so many months and then open access to database vendors. Embargoes can last anywhere from one month to two years that I've seen.
