The HBU live mascot is a Siberian Husky, a female named "Wakiza" which means "Determined Warrior." We call her "Kiza" for short.

Kiza II is a Siberian Husky who was born on January 2, 2010 and was adopted by HBU in April 2010 from Husky Haven, an organization dedicated to rescuing abandoned and neglected huskies.

Mingo is the Husky mascot (human) you see at sporting events and is named in memory of our first live mascot. Mingo was our first mascot. It is interesting to note that Mingo was actually a Samoyed instead of a husky. The original Kiza (1990s) was our first live husky mascot as is our current mascot, Kiza II. You can read more on the mascot history page.
