It is possible that you have come across an article that in a pre-print. You may have discovered an article that has not yet been printed. In the case of Science, you may have to settle for the HTML copy. Since it hasn't been printed yet, there is no PDF available. Be glad! You are seeing an article before it is published! Most magazine and journals do not give you this luxury!
