For freshmen, acceptance to HCU is based on your high school class rank or GPA, test scores from the SAT or ACT, and overall academic record. Generally speaking, HCU is looking for students with a 1070 SAT score (Math and EBRW sections combined), or a 21 composite score on the ACT. However, these scores do not guarantee acceptance.

Students with lower test scores will undergo a holistic review where we will look at your high school GPA, grades, extracurricular activities, and awards. In addition, a range of students who are denied admission will be offered the chance to attend Summer Launch, where they can work towards being conditionally admitted.

Transfer applicants will be admitted based on the cumulative college GPA from all colleges that they have attended.  Students with a 2.0 cumulative college GPA will be admitted, with transfer merit awards starting at a 2.5 cumulative GPA.

Graduate programs require specific application materials, including two letters of recommendation, current resume, and an official copy of the applicant's bachelor's degree conferred transcript.  Additional items are needed for international students, and several master's programs require GMAT or GRE test scores and/or an interview as part of the admission process.
